Window Tinting Maintenance and Care
Now that you have gotten your car or home windows tinted, you probably think it ends there. Or maybe you are wondering how to keep it in the best condition possible for the longest period possible.
All you need to do is follow these easy steps and you will be well on your way to money well spent and long lasting tint:
- Do Nothing
- No Stickers or Suctions
- Cleaning
- Other Items
- Replace / Remove
Do Nothing – if you just got your windows done, do nothing at all to them for a while. Do not touch it for about 5 days. The DIY kit you used or the professional that carried out the work will tell you exactly how long you should try and not touch it. After that, do not use any cleaning products on it. Try not to clean it at all for about a month.

No Stickers or Suctions – it is best not to put any stickers or items with a suction cap on your nice windows. When trying to remove them you will encounter trouble and you will be unhappy with what you find underneath them.
Cleaning – try not to use any cleaning products with ammonia in it. As it happens, ammonia can react to window tinting materials and you will see a degrade in appearance. In fact, the best thing to clean your windows with is warm, soapy water and a nice soft cloth.
Other Items – Be very careful when loading things into your car or moving things around in your home so that nicks and scratches can be prevented. Once this happens to the tint, there is nothing you can do about it. This can include things like your seat belt or car keys and similar items.
Replace / Remove – If you get to the stage where replacement of your window tinting is required or you want it removed, then it is best to take it to a professional. Removing the tint must be done by some one who knows exactly what they are doing. If you do anything wrong yourself, it may be long lasting and permanent damage. And doing it yourself can mean a lot of harmful chemicals which means you would have to get yourself a car air purifier to breathe again.
You can see from the above that there are many things that you can do to ensure the longevity of your windows tint job. There are many things but they are not hard to remember or hard to do. It always pays to be cautious and have all the knowledge upfront so that you enjoy your purchase.
